Mass Transit
The Chicago Transit Authority's (CTA) provides 24-hour access between
Chicago's airports and downtown Chicago. Trains run approximately every
8-10 minutes from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and less frequently through the night.
One-way fare is $1.75. Fare cards may be purchased at vending machines in
CTA stations. Note that the machines will provide a CTA transit card that
has a value matching the value of cash inserted into the machine.
The transit card can be used multiple times until the fare on the card is
depleted. To use the vending machine, insert the amount of money desired
for the transit card (coins, $1, $5, $10, or $20) and press the green
"VEND" button just below the electronic display. The vending
machines do not make change or accept credit cards. A fare card
with a stored value equal to the amount of money inserted will emerge from
a slot on the lower right portion of the machine. To use the CTA transit
card, insert the card at the turnstile and then retrieve the card for
further use. The CTA transit card can be recharged at any CTA vending
machine. For more information on the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA),
