The 23rd Annual
Gallery of Fluid Motion will be held as part of the Meeting. The Gallery
consists of aesthetically pleasing, insightful displays of still pictures,
computer graphics, and video clips submitted by attendees. Both
computational and experimental fluid dynamics entries are encouraged.
Poster and video entries must not duplicate one another. Outstanding
entries, selected by a panel of referees for artistic content, originality
and ability to convey information, will be honored during the DFD meeting,
placed on display at the Annual APS Meeting in Baltimore in March of 2006,
and will appear in the annual Gallery of Fluid Motion article in the
September 2006 issue of Physics of Fluids. Entry forms are
available below and must be received via email no later than Friday,
October 7, 2005. Questions and entry forms should be addressed to
Professor Kevin Cassel:

Entries received will be listed at
www.dfd2005.northwestern.edu on Friday October 14, 2005. Please
check the lists for poster and
video entries as applicable to be sure that
your entry was received. At least one co-author must attend the DFD
meeting.
In addition to
photographs and/or graphics, poster entries should contain brief
explanatory text and the names and affiliations of all authors. Detailed
Gallery of Fluid Motion poster guidelines are available in
this PDF file. Multiple entries by
the same authors must contain different artwork. Posters must be checked
in at the Conference Registration Desk and set-up in the Gallery
no later than noon on Sunday, November 20, 2005.
One-half of an 8-foot wide by 4-foot high poster board (approximately 4' x
4' or 1.2 m x 1.2 m) and pushpins will be provided. Detailed poster
session guidelines are here.
For ease of set-up, entries should not be mounted on foam core.
Authors of poster entries will be asked to be present at their posters
during one or two specified times (probably at breaks) during the meeting
to answer questions. A list of the poster entries for this meeting is
available here.
Video entries must be submitted as MPEG-2 NTSC files (720 by 480 pixels,
29.97 fps) with a total running time of no more than three minutes.
This time limit will be strictly enforced. The MPEG-2 files should begin
with a title page (3 to 5 seconds long) followed by the three-minute
segment. After the end of the segment, please include a 20-second
blank section. Entries may include sound. The title page should include
the title and the names and affiliations of the contributors. All entries
will be shown continuously during the meeting in posted order. All files
must be received on CD or DVD (please do not email) by October 7,
2005. A list of the
video entries for this meeting is available
here.
